First Aid

Work Cover Victoria can provide information on first aid kits.  Your workplace should conduct a Workplace Risk Assessment to determine workplace hazards and put into place a first aid kit that best suits your clinic’s/salon’s needs.

The kit contents will depend on how many employees the salon has, the nature of any hazards, and the location of the salon premises.

Kit Items should include:

  • Basic first aid notes, instructions for use.
  • Sterile eye pads
  • Eye bath
  • Individually wrapped sterile adhesive dressings
  • Disposable gloves
  • Scissors
  • Saline

It is advisable to include an Epi-Pen in your first aid kit, in the event that a client has an unlikely allergic reaction to any materials used in the cosmetic tattoo procedure.

In the appendix, you will find a list of State Acts and references. If you have any doubts you should consult your local health department.

**Students are recommended to undertake an anaphylaxis training course to learn the use and administer of an EpiPen. A pharmacist can assist you with this**
